Mobile App Development: Apps people keep on their home screen.

Build

What is mobile app development?

Mobile app development is designing, building and releasing applications for iOS and Android, including the APIs, admin tools and data they depend on. Witty builds cross-platform apps with React Native and Expo, so one codebase ships to both stores.

The hard part of an app is rarely the screens. It is deciding the few things it must do brilliantly, how it gets its data, and how you will support it after launch. We work through those questions first, then design and build an app that feels native on both platforms.

Problems we solve

  • An idea, but no clear first version

We help you cut a long feature list down to a first release that proves value and can ship in weeks, not quarters.

  • Two platforms, one budget

Cross-platform development with React Native and Expo avoids building and maintaining two separate apps.

  • Data trapped in other systems

Apps are only as useful as the data behind them. We build or connect the APIs your app needs.

  • Field teams on paper forms

Internal apps for inspections, deliveries, bookings or sales visits replace paperwork and re-typing.

What’s included

What we deliver

Pick what you need, or let us recommend a scope after a short discovery call.

  1. iOS & Android apps

Customer-facing apps with accounts, notifications, payments, bookings and content.

  2. Cross-platform development

React Native and Expo for a single codebase, native modules where performance or device access demands it.

  3. Internal & field apps

Offline-capable tools for staff: checklists, capture, approvals and reporting.

  4. Web applications

Browser-based apps and portals when installation is a barrier for your users.

  5. APIs & integrations

Back-end services, authentication and connections to CRM, ERP, payment and messaging platforms.

  6. Admin dashboards

The web tools your team uses to manage content, users and orders behind the app.

  7. Store release

App Store and Google Play submission, store listings, test builds and release management.

Platforms & tools we typically use

  • React Native
  • Expo
  • iOS
  • Android
  • Node.js APIs
  • REST / GraphQL
  • Push notifications

How it works

From first call to results

  1. Step 1: Product definition

Users, core jobs, first-release scope and how success will be measured.

  2. Step 2: UX & prototype

Flows and clickable prototypes tested before development starts.

  3. Step 3: Build in sprints

Regular working builds on your own phone, so feedback is about real software.

  4. Step 4: Test & release

Device testing, store submission and staged rollout.

  5. Step 5: Support & iterate

Crash monitoring, OS updates and a roadmap shaped by real usage.

FAQ

Questions we’re often asked

Straight answers about mobile app development. Can’t see your question? Ask us directly.

Native or cross-platform?

For most business and customer apps, cross-platform with React Native and Expo gives near-native quality from one codebase at a lower build and maintenance cost. Fully native development is worth it for apps with heavy graphics, unusual hardware access or platform-specific experiences.

How much does an app cost?

It depends on features, integrations and design depth. After a short discovery we give you a fixed scope for a first release and an estimate for what comes after. We would rather ship a focused first version than a large app nobody has tested.

Do you publish the app to the stores?

Yes. We prepare builds, store listings and screenshots and handle submission to the Apple App Store and Google Play under your developer accounts.

Can the app connect to our existing systems?

Usually, yes — through APIs where your systems provide them, or through a small integration service we build. We check what is possible during discovery.
